Fitness to Practise
The Fitness to Practise Committee conducts hearings of allegations concerning a physician's capacity to practise medicine. Elements that may impact a doctor’s capacity include a mental-health or substance-abuse issue.

Governance
The Governance Committee is responsible for implementing governance policy recommendations and ensuring that appointments are made to all the CPSO committees so that the work of the CPSO can be done. For more information, see page 22 of the General By-Law.

Inquiries, Complaints and Reports
The Inquiries, Complaints and Reports (ICR) Committee oversees all investigations into physicians' care and conduct, including public complaints investigations, Registrar's investigations, and inquiries into a physician's capacity to practise.

Patient Relations
The Patient Relations Committee oversees a program that includes measures for preventing or dealing with sexual abuse of patients by physicians. The College also administers a fund for therapy and counselling for patients who have been sexually abused by a physician. For more information, see page 20 of the General By-Law.

Premises Inspection
The Premises Inspection Committee is responsible for administering and governing the College's premises inspection program

Quality Assurance
The Quality Assurance Committee has a legislated mandate to continuously improve the quality of care provided by physicians. We achieve this through several programs whereby the College assesses physicians or inspects facilities to ensure they are meeting high standards for delivery of care.
