Professionalism and Practice Program
We provide Ontario’s medical students with essential learning opportunities
How a doctor delivers care is just as important as the care provided. Professionalism is a principle that medical students need to embrace at every step of their training. To that end, CPSO has partnered with medical schools across Ontario to develop modules on key professionalism topics. These modules include PowerPoint presentations, and case studies ground in real life issues and trends seen by CPSO. They are also grounded in relevant frameworks, such as CanMEDs. We encourage medical students — and anyone else interested in medical professionalism — to download these resources by clicking on the images below. Additional modules will be added to this site as they are completed.

The Program
In addition to offering these modules online, we travel across the province each year to work collaboratively with students and faculty to deliver presentations on a variety of professionalism topics. We provide curriculum development and support, a CPSO spokesperson to deliver or co-teach education sessions, and engaging case studies and modules on key topics. With our unique access to real-life trends and challenges that physicians face in practice, we can offer students useful guidance as they transition from learner to professional.
Key topics include:
- Medical Professionalism
- Medical Regulation and the CPSO
- Medico-legal concepts
- Medical records
- Social Media
- Mandatory Reporting
- Conflicts of Interest
- Boundaries and Sexual Abuse
- Physician and Patient Rights
- Blood Borne Viruses
